The studio exists to provide low‑cost printmaking facilities to artists and to introduce people to low‑tech printmaking techniques. Stampa LoFi began in earnest in January 2023 and received funding support from Creative Scotland in a crowd match-crowdfunding campaign.
We teach intro workshops in linocut, mimeography and drypoint etching, and offer hot‑desking studio space for arty folks, while our gallery showcases work from the studio and local artists.
robert marjoribanks
Stampa LoFi is run by Robert Marjoribanks, a printmaker based in Leith, whose art practice explores place and materials. He teaches various printmaking processes and loves seeing his students develop their own techniques and aesthetic passions.
Rab’s workshop is a friendly and accessible place where people feel welcome to engage and participate. He finds his art (and his life) is better when he’s teaching and interacting with other people. His love for participatory art and his passion for printmaking make him a natural printmaking educator.
ocean terminal
The Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre, Leith, opened in 2001. With various economic issues over the years, many of the shop units were left empty. The shopping centre has taken on something of a second life as a community and artistic hub, with artists and community groups taking up the empty spaces.
The studio is fully accessible with lift access, there's nearby cafes and restaurants, and it's well served by buses and trams.
