intro to linocut

£55
12+
4hrs

You'll discover the basics of carving designs into linoleum blocks and creating your first linocut prints.

The workshop starts with an intro to the materials. We get inky straight away as we need the first layers to dry while we start carving. We use a practice block for some simple exercises to make you more confident when it comes to carving your final design. After a break, the rest of the session is spent working on your personal project.

You leave with your own print run of lino printed art, a carved lino block that you can continue printing with, and the skills to make future print projects!

Drypoint

Drypoint workshop

£60
12+
4hrs

Drypoint uses a transparent plastic plate to print with. You can bring a photo or drawing to work from (or we can provide one) which is placed under the plate and used as a guide for the mark making process.

We start with a trial plate to give us a feel for scratching and mark making and we experiment before we approach our main project. After a break, we set up the press and get inky. The last parts of the workshop are more independent but before you go off on a printing spree, an alternative inking-up process is introduced.

Once completed, you'll have your own prints to take home and a world of drypoint printmaking to explore!

mimeography

mimeography workshop

£30

2hrs

Mimeography is a printmaking technique much like screen printing. It originally used wax paper and oil-based ink to create stencils that were used to print, but we'll be doing an adapted version that makes it more portable, affordable and accessible.

In this workshop, we use a hacked fax machine, some risograph paper and rice flour to create our own fun and colourful designs. It starts with a brief history of mimeography before we take you through the process step by step.

You'll leave with the skills to pursue further projects and a set of prints to take home!
